RRO SERVICE for all Alberta REAs

At Lakeland REA, we completely understand the struggle that REAs have in this new de-regulated world. There are many interests that would like a piece of your business and it is difficult to sort through them and find a solution.

Lakeland REA. can provide the RRO option for any REA that would like to leave their current Investor Owned Utility (IOU) RRO supplier. The main feature of Lakeland's RRO service is complete transparency and disclosure of all financial information, including energy charges, rates, profit/loss, WSP charges and more.

As part of this service Lakeland REA. offers the following:

1. Lakeland will give you a complete summary of YOUR REA's energy usage, costs and profile for every month. These reports will be faxed or e-mailed to you monthly.
2. Lakeland REA will obtain a separate AESO account for your REA membership. This will ensure that a separate power pool statement is generated for YOUR REA. The power pool statement will be shared with you monthly.
3. Lakeland REA will disclose all the financial transactions of YOUR REA. A General Ledger Summary will detail all payments to the power pool for energy, arrears, customer payments, income, money collected for transmission, your Deposit Reserve and Association accounts, in short every financial transaction that is now taken care of by your current IOU. Lakeland will maintain a completely transparent relationship with YOUR REA, all the while performing the exact same service as the IOU.
4. Lakeland will produce a customized bill for your customers with YOUR REA's name on it. Your customers will soon know who you are. Most will be very appreciative knowing that YOUR REA is taking care of business.
5. Lakeland REA will build and maintain a www.yourownrea.com website for you at no cost. On this website will be information for your membership that details your operation, contacts, prices, power pool information, government information and more. Community events can be added as well. It is about time that YOUR REA began branding themselves and began getting noticed.
6. Through a password on the website, YOUR REA Board Members will be able to access detailed real time information about your REA, including power pool prices, line loss, UFE, your profile class and more.
7. YOUR REA's energy bill can be used for community announcements, local fairs, 4-H shows, bake sales, fund raisers, announce your AGM, YOUR REA Board activities, in short anything that may be of interest to your membership.
8. Lakeland REA will provide customer care that does not use the endless dial and menu choices that most utility companies employ. Yes, we will actually answer the phone and respond when customers call. And since we are very familiar with REAs, the information your customers get will be relevant.
9. YOUR REA's relationship with your current Wire Service Provider (WSP) need not change. Your current IOU can continue to be your Wire Service Provider. Lakeland REAwill only be replacing the tasks performed by your RRO provider, but with complete transparency.
10. Lakeland REA will reduce your energy rates at every possible opportunity.
11. There is no risk to YOUR REA's operation.

Lakeland REA is the only REA offering this service. We do not wish that you amalgamate, join, sell-out or take any other negative measures. We are offering, at no extra cost or risk to YOUR REA, an opportunity to learn every detail about your operation; finances, power pricing, energy profile, consumption history, rate calculators and what it means to have YOUR REA known as a viable entity in your community. In about a year your Board can decide on the next steps to be taken to ensure that YOUR REA thrives. You will have all the information and tools you need to hedge power, offer contracts to your membership, collaborate with Lakeland or others in energy purchasing, manage your business and take complete control of YOUR REA. Lakeland's RRO contract does not have a fixed term but a six-month termination clause. At any time and without any reasons given, you may terminate the RRO agreement by giving six months notice.

If Alberta Energy's wish comes true, that there shall be multiple retailers serving all Albertans, it will mean the disappearance of many REAs. You can well imagine an Annual General Meeting where every member has a different contract for a different energy price, trying to agree on the future direction of YOUR REA. Sort of like coming to church and finding every pew filled with persons of a different faith. That would be fun. Imagine the difficulty in keeping your membership list current when multiple retailers are operating in your REA.

Your membership is looking for direction in this deregulated market. With the information and tools that Lakeland REA is willing to provide, you will be able to make informed choices for your membership.
